Bay of Islands 750th - including history by Teazy

A grand tartan turnout for our 750th Run which was from 608 Pungaere Road. Events were : A Tartan set up. Drinks before the run, for some. The Run, Circle, ON ON Tributes, Bag pipe parade, Ode to the Haggis, Feast, Single Malt Whiskey, Bag pipe serenade.

No prizes for the best dressed, but there were a few contenders and 5 Nil and Smalmafinga did not disappoint - sorry no Hash Flash.

A flour trail sent us running along the top end of the kiwifruit orchard. Several checks had us searching, ON ON past the cemetery to the end of Onekura Road and a Big ON Back arrow. BB took off his shirt in appreciation of the rain shower while Knose kept his hat on.

The Run was rated 7.50

Apologies from Moogabee and Pokin Out : Thanks for the invite. Very very tempting to come up and celebrate 750 runs with you folk. Had to curb the urge as the camper is going in for a service & check up (for our month long trip down to the South Island in February) the day after the celebration. Please say On On to everyone and we promise to be there for your 800th run, not far away. See you then, if not before. All the best.

Apologies from One Behind and Two in Front ; Okaye and Max -  One Behind and Max were looking forward to wearing their kilts!

Teazmaid led a tribute to BOI Hash

Ist run in Kawakawa. 2007. Many from out of town. Only a few locals including BOI Hash founders Pokin out, Moogabee, who had moved to Kerikeri from Tauranga and myself (TEAZY)

Hashers from Auckland, Whakatane and Mount Maunganui hash.

The Run was around Kawakawa including a drink stop at the famous toilets. Our logo is the toilet.

We had drinks and dinner at the restaurant in Opua-Blue Waters-owned by Keyless (hasher ex Whakatane) and her brother. Just opened, still wet bar top.

Party continued at Shepherds Road. Details all a bit hazy

Memorable runs- I know there are more.

Our first weekend camp, with visitors.

111 Emergency run at Wainui Bay. Hashers went through a pre entry camp medical check

.

Special run #222 Tea cup on Patch (John Key and John Banks had a public cup of tea)

Weekend at Lonsdale-again many visitors-from Auckland, and Whakatane. Was during the election voting night and some disappeared to get result.

Agpu 2011- outwit, outplay, outlast (Survivor)

Shipwreck theme at Puketi forest

Aroha Island #300th - nautical theme

 - someone fell off the hash toilet and our kiwi watching outing was unsuccessful, think the shusshung was too loud.

Mahinepua #400th

Annual Leo Run for a few years in conjunction with BOI hashes as quite a few born under that star sign.

Numbers grew, some hashers of other chapters coming to the area, some virgin recruits-a small number of whom stayed for a short and some for a long while. We hashed in Whangarei when numbers were too low one winter and joined them for ON ON week ends too.

We went to a few AGPU away weekends

At Nash Hash 2015, we put our hand up / arms twisted more like - to host  NASH  HASH  2017

A lot of hard work, many hours finding  what turned out to be the perfect venue and countless hours in the two years organizing 320 hashers from all over the world, caterers, trails, entertainment, drinks, goody bags and other bits and pieces.

It was all worth the effort as it was a fabulous weekend and still being talked about, especially the Bland Bay venue and the helicopter drink delivery and public flights.

# 500th Run was celebrated from the St James Church Kemp Hall, the Monday after NASH HASH - the biggest BOI  Hash attendance.

A crowd of us went to Fiji INTER  HASH  2018

More recently our Tropical AGPU night last year and tonight's Haggis night and  #750th Run  acknowledgment celebration

Top Run numbers :  Screw loose 491 +1   Knose 462+1    Tight Bolt 460+1

Numbers have sometimes dwindled a bit but as the saying goes quality not quantity and we have always kept going.

Once a hasher always a hasher. May the trails and get togethers be filled with friends and the beer always cold and may we together raise a glass to 750 Runs old.

Knose added: His first run with BOI Hash, was in Russell. Knose ventured off to chat up a friend and missed the return ferry. He was duly awarded the original blue DoW cap.

The Robbie Burns celebration continued with Blackbeard piping Ebeneezer, Magic and Cannibal around in a parade with the Quiach.

Ebeneezer read a Scottish Robbie Burns ode to the haggis, and he wield a large knife into the haggis. Ebeneezer had also baked the haggis, neeps and tatties,  a carrot and parsnip dish as well as a pumpkin dish.

After our  unnamed guest recited grace in Latin, we were treated to the Scottish Burns feast.

Shuttle did not show up, but she provided the yummy steam puddings and a trifle.

Black Beard, with his bag pipes, serenaded the late night as we polished off the whiskey.

Thanks for a memorable and pleasurable night, Magic and Cannibal,  Ebeneezer, Black Beard and Shuttle.
